Detailed Itinerary.

DAY 1: KING’S PALACE MUSEUM – TRANSFER TO NYUNGWE – CANOPY WALK EXPERIENCE

2 Day Chimpanzee Trekking in Nyungwe, Pickup and transferto Nyanza King’s palace museum which offers a detailed look into the Rwandan monarchical system and its abolition in the early 1960s (2hrs drive). Among the most amazing and impressive icons here are the enormous, doomed structures that are handcrafted entirely with traditional materials. Following this2-hour-longtour, you will have lunch in Butare town. Thereafter, you will go on a scenic drive to the Nyungwe national park. Upon arrival at the park, you’ll head for a canopy walk experience at Uwinka Park Reception.  You will hike to the suspending 60m-long bridge giving you a panoramic view of the forest and a glimpse of birds. The Canopy walk experience features unmatched marvelous scenery. Suspended above a ravine in the lush montane rainforest of Nyungwe National Park, the canopy walkway provides an exhilarating perspective on the ancient treetops and wildlife. Nyungwe forest is a hotbed of biodiversity. Along the hour’s walk to the canopy walkway from the Uwinka Reception Centre, visitors will see countless butterflies, orchids, and colorful birds, including many endemics to the region. After this exhilarating activity, you will then check in to your lodge followed by dinner and overnight.

DAY 2: CHIMPANZEE TREKKING – RETURN TO KIGALI

On this particular day, with the assistance of our guide, you will check out and depart the hotel with a packed breakfast at 05h00 to experience the misty rain forest of Nyungwe to embark on the famous chimpanzee trek. Visitors on this trail experience a bonus of marvelous bird species that make Nyungwe forest a birders’ paradise. We will drive for one hour to Cyamudongo, the park office for a briefing before you undertake the chimpanzee trekking activity After an interesting and memorable search for the chimpanzees in the forest, you are privileged to spend 1 hour with them taking photographs and videos and return to the hotel for lunch. Following lunch, your guide will lead you back to Kigali. Upon arrival in Kigali, you visit a local market for your souvenir shopping or other last-minute arts and craft shopping at caplaki tourist market. You will be dropped off at your accommodation or airport for your return flight.
